Leonor Jurado was born and raised in Ecuador. She currently lives and works in Missouri.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work is a reflection on the mystery of human existence and function as a
crossover to the supra-mundane as seen through somber worlds that reminds us of mortality and the impossibility of totally grasping the immaterial. Because of this intrigue with existence and mortality as seen through the self and other, the objective of my work is to discuss the duality of strength and weakness of human life through the construction of improvised narrative scenes that address the uncanny and the mundane of life. I have adopted the photographic language to verbalize my perceptions of a reality that feels detached and beset by problems of divergence.
